Networking is the key to our industry. It’s an investment in your business. Meeting suppliers, OEM’s, prospects, customers, fill in the blank and it’s hard to do because there are not a lot of very specific Wire and Cable Harness functions throughout the year. We have a couple tradeshows that touch on Wire and Cable Harness and one larger show specific to Wire and Cable Harness in Milwaukee in May but WHMA knows that networking is the key to any grow any business.

Every year, WHMA holds their successful WHMA Annual Wire Processing Conference in February and this upcoming year is no different. I’m happy to announce that the next 27th Annual conference will be on February 18th – 20th in Las Vegas, NV at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa. This conference features a number of timely presentations on topics important to wire harness manufacturers, OEM’s and suppliers. It also includes peer-to-peer networking, best-practices roundtables and a tradeshow with industry leading suppliers. Registration is open for attendees and exhibitors, so sign up today! https://annualconference.whma.org/

Another great event that is coming up in October is the 3rd Annual M-EXPO Wire Processing Technology Show. It is being held on October 9th-11th in Cd. Juárez, Mexico.  Part of WHMA’s mission is to provide our members access to leading edge technology, to Lead by providing knowledge and best practices, Educate by distributing information, and Connect by fostering relationships Globally. WHMA/IPC has decided to sponsor the M-EXPO show and with this sponsorship we have established a “Partnership of Joint Effort to Strengthen the Wire Harness Manufacturing Industry”.

WHMA/IPC have joined M-EXPO to offer more value to our supplier and manufacturing members, as well as offering cutting edge educational access to the Northern Mexico Maquiladora Wire Processing Industry. M-EXPO is the only Wire Processing Technology show in El Paso/Cd. Juárez region despite being an area with high concentration of manufacturing activity. In Cd. Juárez alone, there are over 300,000 manufacturing jobs and more than 300 maquiladoras and over 25% of these companies are in the Wire Harness or related industry. El Paso/Juárez and the State of Chihuahua region is comprised of the largest wire processing technology centers in the world! Sometimes called the “Wiring Harness Capital of the World.” This will give our members access to new networking opportunities to meet suppliers, OEM’s, prospects. The main markets in this area are automotive, aerospace, electronics, industrial and metal.

This global partnership brings together WHMA/IPC international manufacturing industry leadership in cutting edge education, training, and certification on relevant industry topics and M-EXPO’s access to an exclusive show for the wire and cable industries in Northern México. It will also provide attendees to M-EXPO the opportunity to take part in free IPC seminars related to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards and Workmanship and Repair.

M-EXPO is currently working on the conference schedule and will be holding 5-6 sessions during the event and the schedule will be posted by the end of the month. Some of the companies exhibiting are Komax, HellermannTyton, Schleuniger, Telsonic, Cadonix, Bitech Tool & Die, Identco, Tesa Tape, Terminal Technologies, Lone Star Industrial, Stapla, Cirris, Schaefer, Megomat, Mecalbi, and many more. With over 1,100 wire harness and cable assembly shops in North America, WHMA wants to assist our members in connecting and building lasting relationships throughout the year. The membership of WHMA is very diverse in market segments served as well as various applications and requirements. By creating more opportunities to network will result in more sales. In fact, according to the Bishop Research World Cable Assembly Market report, worldwide sales of cables and harnesses reached $155 billion in 2017 (compared to 2017 worldwide sales of connectors at $61 billion). WHMA/IPC wants to help our members reach their goals. If you have any questions, please contact us at contact.us@whma.org.
