IPC/WHMA places a high priority on government relations because so many public policy debates have large impacts on our industry. IPC is the leading global advocate for the electronics industry and with WHMA members assistance can have a huge impact in other industries. IPC/WHMA actively advocates on their members’ behalf on issues such as taxes, regulations, R&D, and the environment.
IPC has a department called the IPC Government Relations department (IPC GR dept) that specifically works together with members and supporting the industry by promoting government policies that foster economic growth, job creation, innovation, and international cooperation. IPC/WHMA actively engages in global government relations and environmental policy advocacy that are in line with IPC’s mission to further the competitive excellence and financial success of its members and to protect the environment. Whether it’s engaging with policy makers in Washington, D.C., in the European Union or on regulatory commissions in China, IPC/WHMA and its members proactively seek opportunities to educate, inform and influence policymakers on policies that spur innovation, growth and competition, and in the environmental arena, policies that are scientifically based and provide important protection.
Now more than ever before, policymakers in Washington, D.C. are weighing decisions with huge implications for the Electronics Manufacturing industry, our customers, and our communities. Decisions on critical issues such as environment; science, technology, engineering and mathematics, (STEM) education; R&D investment; regulatory reform; and tax could affect us all for years to come.
To ensure that our industry remains strong and competitive, we as industry leaders must engage in the government policy making process – and do it “early and often.” IPC’s GR team is composed of experienced professionals working for YOU year-round.
